Killed, dismembered, and frozen

Killed, dismembered, and frozen. This was the fate of 26-year-old Italian Carol Maltesi. But how did it come to this? On March 22, 2022, a passerby found eight black plastic bags in a ditch in the mountains of Palline di Borno behind the province of Brescia. When he opened them, he found the body parts of a woman inside. The passerby immediately alerted the Carabinieri. They released photos of 11 unusual tattoos found on the body parts to the public in order to determine the woman’s identity. The body was quickly identified as 26-year-old Carol. According to the autopsy, she was first beaten to death, then dismembered, before the murderer froze her body parts. Who was capable of such a cruel act? Carol’s murderer was soon identified as her neighbor Davide Fontana, who, like Carol, lived in an apartment building in a suburb of Milan. The 43-year-old bank employee Davide Fontana was not only a food blogger, but also made pornographic films in his spare time. Carol, who had a 6-year-old daughter, was an attractive woman who capitalized on this by working as an adult film actress under the name Charlotte Angie. She gave up her previous job as a saleswoman. Carol was allegedly in a relationship with her neighbor Davide Fontana. She occasionally made adult films with him. This was also the case on January 10, 2022, when she shot two erotic videos with Davide Fontana using his cell phone. Afterwards, Davide Fontana suddenly hit her on the head with a hammer. He had been overcome with jealousy because he did not want to share Carol with others. The next day, Davide Fontana ordered a freezer from Amazon and bought a hatchet and a metal saw at the hardware store. He used them to dismember Carol’s body. He packed the body parts into black plastic bags and put them in the freezer. To ensure that no one noticed Carol’s disappearance, he took her cell phone and pretended to be Carol for two months. He left her calls unanswered and then replied to them via WhatsApp or text message. Davide Fontana also paid Carol’s rent and eagerly posted on her social media channels. No one missed Carol. Not even her father, who received a WhatsApp message from Carol on his 58th birthday and wasn’t concerned. Davide Fontana, on the other hand, became nervous and wanted to get rid of Carol’s body parts. To do so, he rented a guesthouse in the mountains of Varese on February 19. In the garden of the otherwise uninhabited guesthouse, he wanted to burn the body parts, but this did not work, so they ended up back in the freezer. On March 22, he made another attempt to get rid of Carol’s body parts by throwing them into a ditch in the mountains behind Brescia. Before that, he had tried in vain to remove Carol’s tattoos. A week after the body parts were found, Davide Fontana reported Carol missing to the police. However, he became so entangled in contradictions that he finally confessed to Carol’s murder and months of hiding her body. All of Italy was shocked by the cold-blooded crime. Carol’s father was particularly deeply affected, calling Davide Fontana a monster.
